In the Wake Poem

My Prose Poem for class, one of my favorites, and one of my better ones. Enjoy.

Silent giants sway, boughs stretching towards silent stars slowly vanishing behind the oncoming veil. Endless expanses of roots expectantly await the quenching torrent promised by swollen clouds. The leafy canopy ahead rustles in the gale like a rattlesnake’s tail, casting flickering shadows with waning light.
Thunder booms like a drum, forcing rabbits and squirrels to the seemingly safe shelter of their burrows. A flash of light splits the air, falling from the heavens to strike the carpet of debris like a match. A tendril of smoke rises like a cobra, sinuously swaying side to side. The fire builds, devouring parched plants, voicing a roar of fury.
Deer flee from their thickets, bounding into swallowing darkness, escaping blinding flames overtaking their havens. Sparrows take wing, peering down on smoldering ruins spreading like blood from a wound.
Another peal of thunder cracks through the forest, rolling echoes like gunshot. Overhanging clouds pour out their heavy burden, releasing salvation onto the thirsty forest. The once consuming fire putters and dies, leaving in its wake nothing but ashes.

Stillness Poem

So this is the second poem I did for class. I like it a lot better, but it still has some issues, but I'm lazy. Enjoy! It's in Free Verse once again.

With an ever demanding world
I come to forget,
leave it all behind
but for the rocking of
wooden planks beneath,
bucking gently in time
with lapping waves.
The gentle curve of rocky shores,
sloping slowly towards the waters bed,
kisses the line of trees
within this sheltered cove
before breaking into untamable sea.

The mind goes still
as sun meets its death,
staining the clouds in its bleeding light
before being born again come morning.
The sharp scent of pine
mixed with brine sting my nose,
a reassuring scent reminiscent of times
spent in the frothy expanse
of the thirsty sea,
as rich a blue as
brand new jeans.

The echoing night fills with
nightingales trills
accompanied by a solitary owl.
Crickets play the strings
while wind plays through the leaves.
The slowly crashing waves
create the underlying beat,
like the bass and drums of a band
giving the rhythm and purpose,
tying together my own private
symphony.

50 Years (Poem)

So, as promised, here is my first poem, now that it has been graded. It is not my favorite, but I'm sharing it as I sent it to her. I hope you enjoy!

You told me we would grow old together,
The two of us would never again be
Apart.
Now I look at our house
But all that is left is
Sorrow.

There’s your bulky chair that I always hated,
That never quite matched the décor
With its oversized green pillows.
Where so often I came home,
To see you sitting there,
Waiting.
It still smells like you,
The soft, musty scent of my favourite cologne,
Sweet.

There’s our picture,
Taken on our wedding day,
Me in my white dress,
You in your blue tux, impressing me, but
what ever possessed you to wear blue?
Like a strutting peacock with brilliant
Plumage.
Everything in this house is memories,
You and me.
Like chocolate and coffee, always better
Together.
To the end I never stopped loving you.

I remember the taste
Of your lips on mine.
I can feel your skin,
Your work roughened finger tips caressing me, like soft
Feathers.
Hear your voice that was beginning to crack with age
Whisper my name,
Softly.

You said we would be together for 50 years.
Who could have guessed that
You would be slip away from me
And the bonds of Earth
To see the other side.
Heaven.

Poems

So when I get my grades and such, I am planning on posting my poems on here from class. Well, technically I have one poem graded, but the teacher would like some more revisions done, and gave some tips. I think I'll wait for the end of midterms to post them here for your enjoyment so you see I am actually writing.

New Radiance Prologue Teaser

So, this morning between sleeping and wakefulness, this came to me, a retake on my old prologue for Radiance. Aaah, FINALLY, inspiration!

"Many, many years ago, when the world was new, and the colors were vibrant, the Creator looked down on His creation and knew that it was good. From the rolling green hills,to the raging blue seas. From the islands with their white beaches, to the lush dark forests. But the world was empty, void of creatures to roam and enjoy the creation. So the Creator made six beings. The Creator used what was around Him, infusing these beings with colors vibrant enough to rival the world that He had made. The first brother was named Rojo after the Red color of his skin, brighter than any cherry. For him, the Creator made a woman, named Ruby, to match his hue and be his bride. Next, the Creator made the next brother, Amarillo, whose skin was the color of a Sunflower. And he, too, was given a wife made by the Creator, named Topaz, to match him in hue and be his wife. Last, the Creator made the last brother, Azul, whose skin was like the ocean. The Creator made him a wife, named Saphire. The Creator knew that his creation was good. He set the brothers to govern his world and treat it just. He gave them homes on the islands, saving the largest, most central island for mutual exploration from his new three races where the ownership would be neutral.

The brothers and their wives took care of their islands, and the population slowly grew from the first six. More and more the children looked towards the other islands to find their husband or wife. Soon, new skin colors came to be; Orange, Green, and Violet. The brothers looked upon these with wonder, and gave the new races their own islands for their different sons to govern. Through the years, Indigo came to be from the sons of Violets and Blues. The half-breeds who took after no specific parent were given the name Mixes, those whose skin was not primarily one of the other colors. Shades, those whose colors faded into dull Blacks, Browns, Grays and Whites were the last to come to be, from having lineages of too many races their colors blended into these tones. For many years, they lived in peace and coexistence.

With the population booming, the brothers were taught by the Creator trades, jobs specific to the islands that they governed. Everything was good, and the Creator was well pleased. The grand island, bigger than the rest, stayed as a place for all to gather and sell their wares. The brothers were pleased with their children and the progress that they were making. But like most brothers, quarrels broke out between them, for peace is something that never lasts. Discovered on the grand island was a cave of crystals, beautiful and clear. When taken they sparkled and cast a rainbow of colors onto the ground. Rojo saw that Red was was the first of the scheme, and he knew that he was the favored brother, for he was made first by the Creator. He fought with his brothers, saying that he and his people deserved to live on the grand island, for they were favored by the Creator. A war broke out between the races, with the Reds and their children dominating the others. Rojo built a castle on the island and deemed himself as the King over his brothers. The first King of Radiance.

A hierarchy was born..."

Radiance Update

Hola amigos!

Alright, I've been thinking a lot about Radiance, and I was originally going to split it into Islands. I'm still doing this, but here's the plan. The largest, most central island is Rose of course, (Reds) and it's going to have on it's fringes of one side where the Shades and mixes will live, because... well, they're slaves and servants, who are picked up from the markets, so I'm thinking the Reds wouldn't degrade themselves as much to travel so far from home.

Also, there's going to be a central market on Rose Island, where merchants from each class come to sell their wares, which will vary depending on where they live and the peoples skills. Kinda like different Nations, but all similar in the fact that they are from Radiance and all are one Race.

I donno, what do you all think? Hey, remember, this is progress! <3

P.S, What do you think about me making a Site not only for Radiance, but for all my writing. This would be only for updates, and that would be where the real chapters will be ,and I'll be leaving Webook.
